Wayne Rooney will hand Manchester United a huge boost today.

Rooney will return to training with United today, only 11 days after damaging an ankle, it was reported last night.

It is a tribute to Rooney's determination and United's medical staff that he is back so swiftly. United's Premier League match with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday will be too soon for him, although he could feature in next Tuesday's Champions League Group F tie against Sporting Lisbon.

Sir Alex Ferguson's champions have played only one game in Rooney's absence, a Premier League victory over Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford.
