Rooney and Lampard on target as England downs Brazil

England celebrated 150 years of the Football Association with a 2-1 international friendly victory over Brazil at Wembley tonight.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the 26th minute when he slotted home after Julio Cesar had saved Theo Walcott's initial attempt. The goal came after Three Lions keeper Joe Hart had managed to save a Ronaldinho penalty to his left.

Early in the second half, Brazil substitute Fred fired home the leveller but Frank Lampard came off the bench to give England their first win over the Selecao in 23 years with a clinical side-footed finish on the hour-mark.

It was an impressive performance from Roy Hodgson's side in Ashley Cole's 100th cap and the FA will be thrilled that the English side were able to produce a victory on such a momentous occasions for them.
