Rookies to be given chance by Verbeek

Pim Verbeek is expected to name up to six debutants for tonight's Asia Cup qualifier against Indonesia in Jakarta.

It will be a great test for the all A-League Socceroos and a challenge for those yet to represent their nation on the international circuit.

Melbourne Victory defender Rodrigo Vargas looks set to make his debut in a central defensive role whilst former Bolton winger Scott Jamieson has been earmarked for the left full-back slot.

They will be joined by either Newcastle Jets' Tarek Elrich or Sydney FC's Shannon Cole who will slip in to the right full-back role.

Adelaide United midfielder Paul Reid could grab his first cap with a start in central midfield and may be joined by the Queensland Roar's left winger Matt McKay.

The story of the night would be if Central Coast Mariners hard-nosed midfielder Dean Heffernan could notch up his first international match after missing out against Argentina in 2007 and then being sidelined for much of the 2007/2008 season with a broken leg.

First-timer Eugene Galekovic is expected to take the gloves.
