Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is set to meet with Manchester United officials in the next 72 hours.El Pais says he is due to meet Old Trafford officials in the next three days.

The Portugal captain could meet with United officials before heading back to pre-season training in Madrid.

Recently retired manager at Old Trafford Sir Alex Ferguson had been courting Ronaldo, who is believed to want the opportunity to represent the team who set him on his way to becoming one of the best players in the world.

Madrid president Florentino Perez was adamant the £80million forward would sign a new deal to keep him in the Spanish capital, but Ronaldo took to social media to dismiss the claims.
