Ronaldo's business interests continue to expand

Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has become a brand ambassador for mobile marketing start-up Mobitto, reports SportsPro. As part of the agreement, signed on 4th December, the 27-year-old becomes an investor in the Lisbon-based company, which specialises in crowd-sourced mobile loyalty applications. The exact size of Ronaldo's stake, however, remains unclear.

"I am really excited to become part of this project," said the 2008 Ballon d'Or winner. "I absolutely believe in the potential of the mobile market and I believe that Mobitto will have a huge impact in the interactions between brands and customers in the future. We will certainly make a difference."

José Simões, chief executive of Mobitto, said: "Ronaldo is a worldwide celebrity and the most popular sports personality on Facebook, with more than 51 million fans.

"He is young, modern and tech savvy, a talented and hardworking professional who always strives for victory. These values match exactly Mobitto's DNA."

Ex-Manchester United winger Ronaldo, who ranked fifth in SportsPro's 2012 list of the world's most marketable athletes, has existing endorsement deals with Castrol and Nike, among others.
