Cristiano Ronaldo is delaying new contract talks with Real Madrid.

Sport says Ronaldo is frustrating Real management by instructing his agent, Jorge Mendes, not to consider new contract talks until next month.

Ronaldo spoke personally with Real president Florentino Perez during their tour of the US, but nothing was agreed. With less than two years to run on his existing deal, Ronaldo knows the pressure is on Perez to secure his signature to a new agreement.

But he doesn't want to consider anything until he knows whether Real have been successful in signing Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

Should the Welshman arrive, it will give Ronaldo and Mendes ammunition to demand ground-breaking terms to re-sign with Real. The Portuguese is still playing on the same contract he signed upon leaving Manchester United four years ago.
