Real Madrid have beaten Spanish rivals Sevilla 2-0 to clinch the 2014 UEFA Super Cup.
The reigning Champions League winners comfortably overcame last season's Europa League champions at the Cardiff City Stadium thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese ace opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he slotted home a lovely cross from Gareth Bale at the back post before doubling the advantage early in the second half when firing home a pass from Karim Benzema.
Carlo Ancelotti's Real included summer signings James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos while Unai Emery's Sevilla were without left-back Alberto Moreno who is set to join Liverpool before the weekend.
After the match, both Ronaldo and Bale spoke highly of Real Madrid's team unity as they look to avenge last season's Spanish La Liga title loss to rivals Atletico Madrid.
"It's a very special day for me because it is my first Super Cup. The team has been superb today and we deserved this title," said Ronaldo who received his Man of the Match award from his former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
"This was a trophy I wanted because I had not won it yet. I am happy to have scored and I felt good."
Welshman Bale added: "It took time for everyone to settle but we gelled as a team. Everyone works hard and we get the rewards.
"To be here [in Wales] is a dream come true. We're going out to win every trophy."
