Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate for Phil Jones to make their clash with Real Madrid. Jones is struggling to overcome an ankle injury that kept him out of Saturday's 4-0 win over Norwich and is facing a race against time to be fit for his marking job on Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Daily Star says Jones will run out of time to prove his fitness, but a United source said: "The manager is desperate for him to be fit.
"He hasn't trained much at all but is having all the treatment he can to give him the best chance of facing Real because the manager knows how vital he is to his plans."
