Roma's Totti won't make Italy return

Roma captain Francesco Totti appears to have played his last game for Italy.

It's been mooted Totti will declare himself available for next year's European Championships, but La Stampa says Italy's senior players wouldn't afford the attacking midfielder a warm welcome return.

A close friend to Totti, meanwhile, also said: "He won't go back. He refuses to jump on the winning bandwagon."

Meanwhile, Italy coach Roberto Donadoni says the door will stay open to Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero.

"Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria) and Del Piero have a chance, but they must show they deserve a place in the squad. Christian Vieri (Fiorentina) is doing very well, but we also need to develop Giampaolo Pazzini (Fiorentina), Raffaele Palladino (Juventus) and Alessandro Rosina (Torino)," said Donadoni.
