Roma's Totti urges authorities to be proactive in game changes

In an open letter to Italian fans, Roma captain Francesco Totti has called on authorities to be proactive in changing the game in the country.

Writing in Corriere dello Sport, Totti called for drug tests to be "abolished" after games, with players instead subject to spot checks during the week. He also wants the number of substitutes to be increased.

"Greetings to the whole world of football, with the hope that things will change. We want to motivate young people and we can make a breakthrough in this environment, we need new ideas to restore our public image.

"I keep repeating that it is futile to continue to play games at night in winter, when we could take to the field at 1:00pm as in England."
