Roma fullback Marco Cassetti was delighted with his superb goal in last night's 2-2 draw with Sporting Lisbon.

"I don't know if my goal will help my Italy chances. All I can do is my best for the club and then see what happens from there," said Cassetti.

"I exchanged passes with Amantino Mancini and cut inwards, but I had to go further as a defender came sliding in to tackle, so my shot was from a more central position and thankfully went where the goalkeeper could not reach."

Cassetti's versatility may have impressed Azzurri Coach Roberto Donadoni, as tonight he was playing at left-back rather than his usual right side due to an injury crisis.

"I much prefer playing on the right, as that is my stronger foot, but I can work on the left too."
