Spartak Moscow coach Oleg Romantsev says Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko should have joined Arsenal - like his Russian teammate Andrey Arshavin.

Romantsev explained: "It is going to be very hard for him at Tottenham. That team is not for him.

"Arsenal's football style is much closer to that of Spartak. They play a very technical game with a lot of fast, short or medium range passing and inventive, unorthodox moves.

"In this sense Arshavin was luckier with his choice of an English team."
