Roma have won the race for Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni. Gazzetta dell Sport says Toni's close friendship with Roma captain Francesco Totti has clinched the deal in the Giallorossi's favour ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

With Bayern handing Toni a free transfer, Roma president Rosella Sensi can afford to bring the striker back to Italy, covering his £2 million salary.
