Roma striker Toni launches scathing attack on Juventus rival Amauri

Roma striker Luca Toni has launched a scathing attack on Juventus striker Amauri.

Brazilian Amauri has not officially been called up by Marcello Lippi because he will not have his citizenship until March.

However, Amauri is expected to be in the squad for the 2010 World Cup, possibly at the expense of Roma hitman Toni.

"If he only chose Italy because Brazil dumped him, then it's not right that he should be our centre-forward," slammed Toni in Il Messaggero newspaper.

"In any case, there are many talented strikers in Serie A, including those who do not necessarily play for Juventus, Milan or Inter.

"I'm sure that if he is in good shape, Amauri will go to the World Cup. I will give it my best shot.

"Indirectly, Lippi let me know that he is following my progress."
