AS Roma striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo was delighted with his first cap for Italy in victory over Northern Ireland.
The Argentine-born forward was a controversial selection for Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.
"I am very, very happy and was emotional on the field. I hope to notch up many more caps in my career," he said after the 3-0 win over Northern Ireland.
"If the Coach said I'll have other chances, then I am very happy. It's a dream come true just being here playing for Italy.
"The group is fantastic, full of excellent players and above all very likeable men who welcomed me into the squad. I want to thank them for that.
"I hope that I am in the running for Euro 2012, but for the moment I am simply happy at making my debut.
"It all happened so quickly and I hope to continue doing well with Roma to convince Cesare Prandelli I deserve to be here."
