AS Roma have sought a favour from Chelsea over their push to sign Kostas Manolas.
The 27 year-old defender's contract carries a €38m buyout clause, which Chelsea are willing to match.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport says the Giallorossi have requested Chelsea hold back from triggering Manolas' option.
Roma are prepared to lose the defender, but want time to bring in a replacement first before Manolas departs.
For their part, both the player and Chelsea can break Roma's contract without any contact thanks to the option. Manolas' current deal expires in 2022.
