Roma have rejected an offer from Manchester City for midfielder Daniele de Rossi. La Stampa says Roma have turned down a bid of £37 million from City for the Italy international, but have left the door open to further negotiations.

City have been told to come back with an improved offer.

Concerning for Roma is that De Rossi has been made aware he would earn almost £8 million-a-year should he make the move to Eastlands.
