AS Roma president James Pallotta is confident a mafia scandal won't hold up their stadium plans.
The Rome city council is embroiled with controversy this month.
"The stadium? We're expecting a vote in the coming days, specifically Tuesday," Roma's President told Radio Radio after meeting with the mayor of the city, Ignazio Marino.
"We've talked, and things seem to be fine. The citizens of Rome should be happy with the work we're doing. Things are going well, and we hope that in 2017 Roma will have an incredible stadium for our fans.
"The mafia scandal? I heard about it. The mayor is doing a great job of cleaning things up, but there's still a lot of work to do.
"I think Rome deserves better than what has been going on. I think this clean-up process will be good for the stadium and for the people of Rome.
"Will it slow down the process of building the stadium? Actually I think it will speed it up, there have been instances where people who are no longer involved in the government have been the ones slowing things down.
"It's exactly the opposite of what people think, when I saw the news last week I was cheering.
"Not just for the stadium, what has happened will be good for Rome."
