Edin Dzeko has revealed that the influx of quality players to the Etihad Stadium over the past few years forced him out of Manchester City.
Dzeko recently completed a move to Roma on a season long-loan deal and it was believed that the striker left City due to a fall out with the club management.
However, the Bosnian has moved on to address such reports and has revealed that the competition for places in the City first team was the reason behind his exit from the Premier League side.
"I played less in my last year at City because they're a top club with lots of players. I also had an injury that held me back," he said at a press conference.
"What happened last season is in the past now. Roma is my present and I can't wait to get started. I had four fantastic years at Manchester City. They've improved a lot in recent years and I hope to repeat similar success at Roma."
