Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman says he feels as fit as ever after his late season comeback.
Strootman made a playing return this month after almost two seasons out with a knee injury.
“Of course I had hard times, especially before my surgery last year," Strootman admitted to Voetbal International.
“I'd done everything possible to get back to fitness again, everything, but I could only get to 20 per cent. That was last year. At times like that I doubted I'd get back to my level.
“Then I started playing for the Roma Primavera and everything went in a different direction. My knee is fine, the fear is gone.
“I'm doing all the exercises to make my knee as strong as possible. It's good to get back to being a footballer.
“I wanted to get back to the level I was at before my injury."
