Roma matchwinner Julio Baptista was beaming after their derby victory.
"This is a very important victory for me, but above all for the whole team that can give us a crucial boost for a more optimistic future," he said after the 1-0 win over Lazio.
The former Real Madrid man was played in a more advanced role by coach Luciano Spalletti and continued: "It is the position I feel more comfortable in and where I feel I can help the team more. With the aid of all my teammates, thankfully I was able to score an important goal.
"The key thing, though, is that the spirit of the side was perfect tonight. We wanted this derby win."
Baptista pointed to the bench after scoring and some thought he dedicated it to Cicinho, who was dropped after scoring a dramatic own goal last week in Bologna.
"I dedicate this goal to all of my teammates, who are like family, and also to the Roma fans."
