AS Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg missed out on a move to Fulham last night.
The Daily Mail says Stekelenburg saw his move to Fulham collapse while he was on the plane to London.
Martin Jol has been a long-term admirer of the Roma goalkeeper and looked set to get his man after being forced to end his interest in Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland after failing in his attempts to hijack the England international's switch to Stoke.
But the Italian club pulled the plug on Stekelenburg's switch to the Premier League, despite the fact the keeper was en-route to Heathrow airport.
