Roma's owners insist no deal has been agreed to sell the club to Vincenzo Fioranelli's consortium.
The news came in a statement released by Italpetroli, the company run by the Sensi family, which owns a majority stake in Roma.
"With reference to what has been reported today and yesterday evening by some organs of the press regarding the acquisition of the majority stake in Roma, Italpetroli would like to clarify that there is no deal with Fioranelli of any kind," a statement read.
