AS Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni has made it clear that Kevin Strootman will not be sold anytime soon.
The Dutch midfielder, who recently returned to action from a knee injury, has been heavily linked with a winter move to Manchester United to reunite with his former Holland boss Louis van Gaal.
It has been reported that the Red Devils are set to make a move for Strootman in January but Baldissoni insists he is not for sale at any price.
"This is something I'm reading every day. It is also something our president (James Pallotta) doesn't like to read every day," the Giallorossi chief told Sky Sports News HQ.
"He made a statement a few weeks ago saying Kevin was not for sale but, to be fair, we haven't received any call from Manchester. We do not plan to sell him."
Baldissoni added that Strootman would not have to be sold even after Roma failed to qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 this week.
"I don't have a clue. This is something you should ask van Gaal or (chief executive) Mr (Ed) Woodward but we don't think we will sell our best players," he added.
"Kevin is also young, not only a good player, he is a young player and we have a very long contract so we want to build our team around him."
Strootman joined Roma from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for £15.6million in July 2013 and has since made 32 appearances for the Italian club.
