Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni has welcomed new coach Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti replaced Rudi Garcia this week.

"A new coach means a new start and as such, obviously creates excitement, but also linked to the excitement is a responsibility to do better," Baldissoni told Roma's official website.

“Luciano is undoubtedly a great coach with an international reputation. He is a hard worker - a football instructor with clear ideas of how he wants his team to play.

“Furthermore, he's already proved to be able to succeed in Rome. He knows Rome well and was able to be successful in this environment.

“This is not to be downplayed when you have to step in mid-season with a short time to prepare. Our objectives haven't changed and won't change - we want Roma to compete at a top level in the League."
