Roma fullback John Arne Riise is emerging as a top target for European champs Barcelona. Barca sports chief Txiki Beguiristain is eager about strengthening the left-side of defence, particularly after releasing veteran Sylvinho yesterday.

Sport says former Liverpool defender Riise is emerging as a top target for Beguiristain, who has received feedback that the Norway international can be signed for a knockdown £4 million.

Deportivo La Coruna's Brazilian wing-back Filipe Luis is also on Barca's shortlist, but is rated closer to £10 million.
