AS Roma chief Walter Sabatini faces a battle to land Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar.
Sabatini lunched with Kranjcar's father, Zlatko Kranjcar, last week and learned that the Croatian would welcome a move to Italy.
However, no formal bid for the midfielder will be made until Roma's new owners have settled on their coach for next season.
The Giallorossi have been warned by intermediaries that Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli, Lazio and Werder Bremen are all in contact with Kranjcar about next season.
