AS Roma are expected to encourage Tottenham to bid for Philippe Mexes in January.

TMW says if Roma cannot convince Mexes to pen a new contract this month, they will seek to sell - with Spurs favourites to land the France international.

Mexes, 28, has also been linked with Chelsea, but Tottenham are regarded as favourites should he decide to continue his career in England.
