Roma convinced Liverpool closer to Alisson deal than Chelsea

Liverpool have edged back in front of Chelsea in the race for AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Chelsea were regarded as favourites to sign the Brazil international last week, but confusion over Thibaut Courtois' plans has opened the door to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ferrying him now to Merseyside.

At Roma, there's a confidence Liverpool will eventually meet their €70m valuation for Alisson before the Premier League transfer window shuts next month.

In Chelsea's case, intermediaries have now pulled back, says TMW, as Courtois intimates he's willing to run down his contract next season.

After Belgium's World Cup win over England yesterday, he stated: "All options are open for me. I may also stay at Chelsea.

"People always complain that players don't comply with their contracts, but maybe they do.

"I don't think they will keep someone with my qualities on the bench, even if I don't sign [a new contract].

"But maybe [staying] is possible, because I like it in London."
