Roma are confident of landing Manchester United attacker Memphis Depay.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has made it clear he wants to sign the sidelined Dutchman.
However, Corriere dello Sport says Roma have been negotiating a rival deal with United for weeks.
Roma have tried to keep the talks secret in order to prevent other clubs in Italy making an offer for Depay.
Inter Milan, it is claimed, could outmuscle the Rome club and manager Stefano Pioli is said to have identified Depay as a viable January target.
Depay appears to have no future at United, with manager Jose Mourinho reducing the 22-year-old's playing time to just seven games this season.
