Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has welcomed the capture of Real Madrid attacker Julio Baptista.

"Baptista has replaced (Amantino) Mancini in attack," said Spalletti.

"Now we are moving towards a squad able to survive the strains of the Serie A and Champions League campaigns, which I see as being particularly long and tortuous this season."
