Roma coach Spalletti in ugly TV clash with Lazio's Tare

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti had a shoving match with Lazio chief Igli Tare at halftime of his team's 4-2 derby defeat. Spalletti said: "At the end of the first half I spoke to [referee Emidio] Morganti about an incident, as he is the same one who gave Juan's penalty against Rolando Bianchi.

"I saw today's incident clearly, but Tare came in and I didn't know what he wanted, so I asked and Morganti sent off both of us. Tare came towards me with his finger up in a threatening manner and I told him to stop that gesture."

However, the Lazio team manager joined him in the post-match interview and their argument continued on live television.

"If you are a man, you must tell them what you told me," snapped Tare.

"I told you to stick your finger somewhere else. You came up to me with your finger right up against my nose," replied Spalletti.

"Besides, you're lying because at that moment I was the only one there and no Roma players, but Tare has confirmed he came from 20 metres away with this threatening gesture right up in my face."

Tare insisted that wasn't the case. "It wasn't in your face. I just said that this wasn't the right way to behave by putting pressure on the referee."

Spalletti added: "Tare shook my hand afterwards and now says that wasn't true. There were 10 people around us who saw it."
