Roma coach Luciano Spalletti insists skipper Francesco Totti will sign his new contract.

"I have let him play even when he was in doubt," insisted Spalletti. "Anyone who tries to link my statement to doubts over Totti's renewal is a sniper targeting the club.

"If I did not say that the team should win without Totti and Daniele De Rossi, then I would be a bad Coach, as I would be saying to the rest of the players that they aren't capable of getting a result.

"Totti will extend his contract and is in talks with the club and the Sensi family."
