Roma coach Spalletti fumes with ref after Genoa defeat

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti blamed the match officials after their 3-1 reverse at Genoa last night.

"We are not looking for excuses," Spalletti insisted. "However, there are some incredible mistakes going on here. They have to explain it to me, otherwise it is tough for me to understand."

Christian Panucci had put the ball in the back of the net for what would've been 2-2, but it was ruled out by linesman Biasutto raising his flag.

Replays show the defender was clearly kept onside by Matteo Ferrari and there was no contact, so the decision remains a mystery.

"This is a very serious and just unbelievable error," continued a furious Spalletti.

"Even someone who goes to act as an assistant referee at amateur level wouldn't make such a simple mistake.

"I don't know what to say in order to explain why he might not be at fault here, because even if the ball did touch Simone Loria on the way through, Panucci was still onside."

That incident infuriated Roma and contributed to the tension that got Daniele De Rossi sent off for a second bookable offence.

Genoa eventually rounded out the 3-1 scoreline with Diego Milito late on, but this defeat plunges the Giallorossi right back into a crisis situation.
