Roma coach Luciano Spalletti was pleased with their 1-0 friendly win over Latina.
Federico Fazio and Thomas Vermaelen both featured, with Fazio scoring Roma's goal.
"It was a good training session, because we encountered an organised side that worked hard and it wasn't easy, even if we showed some good things," Spalletti told Roma TV.
“Clearly we must do something more, but it's another small step forward. We changed to 3-5-2 in the second half because Latina did well at moving the ball around at the start, so we mirrored their system and things improved.
“Fazio, Vermaelen and Juan Jesus all did very well, both with four at the back and three. They proved they have quality and are relaxed on the pitch. We needed players like this."
There is one more friendly against Fondi before the first leg of the Champions League play-off with Porto on August 17.
“We must make small steps forward in every way, but when we've got a complete squad on the field then there shouldn't be any problems. We will be ready for Porto."
