Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has jumped to the defence of young Brazilian goalkeeper Artur after an indifferent preseason.

"I have to say there is always a great rush to judge goalkeepers in Rome and it risks ruining their career here before it has even started," noted Spalletti.

"Artur was criticised after the first few games, held up under the pressure and gave a great response on the field."
