Roma coach Ranieri thrilled with derby victory

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri was full of pride after their derby win over Lazio.

The Giallorossi snatched a late winner with Marco Cassetti to beat rivals Lazio and move into joint fifth place.

"It's wonderful and I started doing this job for the emotions it can give, so tonight was one of the biggest joys I can ever have in my life.

"To come back into my stadium with the curva packed out and winning the derby, it doesn't get better than that!"

This result puts Roma in level fifth place with Fiorentina, Genoa and Sampdoria - just one point shy of Parma in the Champions League spots.

Ranieri added: "For the moment I still see Inter as the favourites. I saw it last night and Juventus strongly wanted the victory with that determination, but five points are a lot and I doubt Inter will make many slip-ups. Of course anything can happen in Serie A.

"We're pleased to be back up there, but must keep working to stop making silly errors. I'm glad of the results that are giving us greater confidence, self-esteem and that helps everything run more smoothly."
