Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is delighted with progress to the next round of the Europa League.

Victory over Basle secured Roma's progress after goals from Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic.

"As usual, we did not take a great initial approach to the game. The course of the match woke us up, but we cannot always do this," said Ranieri.

"We need to be more determined and I always tell the lads that. Conceding a goal is something I always want to avoid and we have to work on that.

"The important thing was to secure our European status, now we want to finish top of the group to have a better draw."
