Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is confident Adriano will not let anyone down next season.

The Flamengo striker is joining Roma on a free transfer after lengthy talks with Roma sports director Daniele Prade.

Ranieri said: "I am pleased with the arrival of Adriano. The operation was conducted by Prade: it was his idea, it his credit for having closed the deal. Roma can help Adriano to regenerate."

On Adriano's reputation for enjoying the nightlife, Ranieri added: "I always control my players on the field and allow them total freedom outside the camp. I never want to ring up players and find them in bars at night.

"Adriano is 28 years old and he can handle his personal life."
