AS Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is furious over claims he is about to be dumped for Marcello Lippi. After defeat to Brescia, Ranieri vented his anger at the media and reports that Lippi is ready to replace him on the Roma bench.
"I have the same responsibility now as I did last season, when the team went from bottom of the table to missing the Scudetto by a point. Nothing has changed," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"This is a side that also with Luciano Spalletti after fighting for the Scudetto took a while to get into gear. It's the same situation.
"In Italy people immediately go looking for a scapegoat. In sport there are difficult moments and this is one of them. The team fought hard tonight, so I'm happy. They have to continue fighting and they'll find a way out."
Lippi has been tipped to replace him and when openly asked about the former Italy Coach, Ranieri did not hold back.
"You make your own conclusions. Often the journalists know more about a situation than the tacticians. The newspapers wrote names and dates, so clearly they know too.
"I knew in Turin what was going on too, OK? Everyone knew it was Lippi."
