Roma coach Ranieri blasts Inter Milan captain Zanetti

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has hit out at Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti in the aftermath of their Scudetto triumph.

Roma finished runners-up on the last day of the season, but the Coach was furious at comments from Nerazzurri skipper Zanetti.

"Some aspects of the last few weeks really offended me," he told Il Fatto Quotidiano.

"For example, those statements like: 'We won a Scudetto against everyone and everything.'

"This faintly ridiculous scenario makes me think back. Was it not enough to see Lazio-Inter for them to definitively realise what actually happened?"

Inter's last major test on their way to the title was a trip to Lazio, but Roma's arch rivals played controversially poorly with the entire stadium cheering on Jose Mourinho's men to a 2-0 result.

"They saw a scenario that simply didn't exist and in Italy quite a few people fell hook, line and sinker for a risible fairytale," continued Ranieri.

"It does leave a bad taste in the mouth. If you go and win that way, at least have the good grace to keep quiet."
