Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has backed Fiorentina counterpart Cesare Prandelli for the Italy job.

Fiorentina have confirmed Prandelli is in talks with FIGC.

Ranieri said: "I have to say that I am very happy for Prandelli. He deserves to coach the Azzurri. I am convinced that he will do well even if coaching the national team is different from leading a club."
