Roma coach Enrique refuses to turn on players after shambolic Fiorentina defeat

AS Roma coach Luis Enrique refused to criticise his players after their thumping defeat by Fiorentina.

The Giallorossi had Juan, Fernando Gago and Bojan Krkic sent off in their 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina.

"I feel bad, just as any Roma player or any Coach would in this situation," said the Spaniard.

"The first goal was a penalty and red card that changed the game. Up until that moment, we had it in our grasp. We conceded the second from a set piece. The strikers did all they possibly could and I have no criticism for them.

"When you lose 3-0 and have three red cards, it's difficult to find the positive."

The fans have been very supportive up until now, but the crowd turned and called for Enrique to resign after this humiliating setback.

"We Coaches do go through similar situations. Things don't go the way we want them to and the results don't arrive, so some doubts emerge. It's still early and we have to work, but obviously it's not easy.

"Have I spoken to the directors? I always do. When we went down to 10 men, Roma did try to play and get it back on track, but as is often the case we conceded from a dead ball situation.

"Gabriel Heinze made a mistake on the second goal, as he was meant to be marking Alessandro Gamberini.

"However, I take responsibility, as always. I have no complaints about my players."
