AS Roma coach Luis Enrique was disappointed with their 0-0 against Chievo.
The result ends their Champions League qualification hopes.
"This was not a football match and if anything seemed more like water polo," said the Spanish Coach.
"Both teams did all that was possible to win, but we couldn't do any more on this surface. Miralem Pjanic is a great player, but he had a few fitness problems and playing him on this turf would've been a big risk.
"I have no particular regrets about this season. We know that we were inconsistent with ups and downs, but I don't think it's fair to discuss that right now.
"We always took it one game at a time and always stayed close to certain positions, but we got a few games wrong and we always admitted that.
"We went close to securing a Champions League spot, but did not manage it. Something was certainly missing. We must improve in defence and be more determined."
