Roma coach Enrique explains leaving Totti on bench
AS Roma coach Luis Enrique explained his team selection for their shocking defeat to Fiorentina.
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo was frozen out of this game after punching teammate Erik Lamela, while Francesco Totti was left on the bench.
“Francesco is not 100 per cent fit and he’s coming off a long injury, so I decided he wasn’t ready to start. In the second half it didn’t seem right to introduce him when the team was a man down. I spoke to him during the break and it didn’t seem logical to play him in that situation.”
