Roma hope to close the signing of Real Madrid fullback Cicinho this week.

The Brazil international is resigned to leaving Real before the start of the season and admitted last night: "I'll take the option that is best for me. If the club decides they do not need me, then I won't argue."

Cicinho is eager to join Roma, having already turned down interest from Liverpool in the last week.
