Roma close in on loan deal with view to buy Arsenal keeper Szczesny

AS Roma are set to complete the loan signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

According to The Guardian, the Italian club are on the verge of securing the Poland international on a season-long with a view to make the deal permanent at the end of next season.

It is believed that if the loan goes well, the Giallorossi will pay £3.5million for 25-year-old Szczesny who is eager to play regular football which is unlikely at Arsenal following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea and the emergence of Colombian David Ospina.

Arsenal were initially worried about a loan for Szczesny as Roma wanted them to pick up part of his wages but the two clubs have since agreed that the Roman outfit will pay his full salary next season.
