The Reds are turning to Julio Sergio after being knocked back by fellow Roma keeper Alexandre Doni last week.
Roma sports chief Walter Sabatini is in England this week for transfer talks with several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.
Liverpool's offer of &euro,1 million-a-year to Doni is what Julio Sergio is currently on at Roma.
But the Brazilian will still need some persuading as he is seeking regular first team football to quit Roma this summer.
