Roma chief Sabatini blows fuse over Totti, Baldini rift
AS Roma sports chief Walter Sabatini is demanding Francesco Totti clear the air with coach Luis Enrique and director Franco Baldini.
Enrique dropped Totti for the Europa League games, prompting a furious response from media and fans.
“Our transfer strategy won’t do much good if this irritating situation continues,” slammed director of sport Sabatini.
“The moment has come to face the matter that involves Totti, Enrique and Baldini, as I do not like this saga at all. It is dangerous and must be resolved, as there is a worrying deadlock. We can’t carry on like this, as the whole city can hear us, while we should be focusing only on football.”
He continued: “Perhaps the person least at fault here is the Coach.
“It’s not true that there is a Baldini ‘faction’ within the club going against Totti. At the same time, I cannot believe there is a plan to annihilate Totti that comes from Baldini.
“He is a great champion, but has to be treated like all the others. We’ve got to end this idea that if he doesn’t play, then he has been betrayed. Totti is the one who has to get himself out of these problems.
“Does he need to step aside? No, just let the Coach work in a relaxed environment, even if the tactician decides not to field him. Totti has to make sure he isn’t described as someone who suffers on the bench, or the man who destroyed the last few Roma Coaches.
“He has to help the Coach. In modern football there are no untouchable players and I ask him for this sacrifice.”

I agree with Mark US completely. Plus to add on, what happened last year when Totti was benched by Ranieri? The team suffered. But then Montella brings him back into the fold and Roma starts winning. Everyone wants Totti to go away but the truth is, Roma need Totti now more than ever. They have young uncreative players. They need a player who makes things happen and Totti has always been that guy. Look at Cassano on the national team. No one wanted him, but if it wasn't for him, they would still be the uncreative team they were when they played in the 2010 WC. Rossi is great, but someone needs to get him the ball. The real problem is that Totti and Cassano (and Pirlo) are a different breed of player. They play with their head and their feet and that's why they are so dangerous and so well respected by their peers. Totti will show why he is still on top of his game this season and shut up all his critics the same way he did in the second half of last year.
This can happen when an idol thinks he is bigger than the coach and even the team. The coach must be respected and both leaders must show their intellect and rise above the personal conflicts.

no untouchable players in Modern game?? here's a few names Messi, Rooney, Totti, Gerrard e.t.c. and usually the club benefits from this untouchable greats thanks to their unmatched loyalty.
The problem is.. the new owner has brought the same group of people who fought with Totti and left the club few years back. Now they're back with vengeance led by Baldini.
