Roma sports chief Daniele Prade insists their wage ceiling still keeps them competitive in the transfer market.

"We're not scared," he said. "Our wage ceiling is important. A demonstration of this was how we re-signed Philippe Mexes to a new contract.

"He could have earned more elsewhere, but he knows he can improve at Roma and enjoys living in the city."
